The movement against the British for the independence of India was of two types, one was the non-violent movement and the other was the armed rebellion movement. Armed rebellion began with the establishment of the British Empire in India.
In Bengal, many armed rebellions like Military Revolt, Chuad Rebellion, Sanyasi Rebellion, Santhal Rebellion culminated in the revolt of 1857. But some armed revolutionary movements were underground.
